01 Works

Animated character art we've made

Both videos show the same character, Ichika Amano. Nothing is redrawn frame by frame: everything that moves is the same single illustration.

01 Scene

今日、何しよう?

Draw circles on the screen and her eyes and head follow your finger. Go too fast and she gets dizzy; poke her cheek and she puffs it up. A pat on the head at the end, and she smiles.

  • Draw circles → her eyes and head follow
  • Too fast → she gets dizzy
  • Poke her cheek → she puffs it up
  • Pat her head → she smiles

02 Scene

How she moves

It starts as the still illustration; one click and she comes alive. She turns to follow the cursor, changes expression on the number keys, waves, makes a peace sign and a heart, then settles back into the original pose.

  • Still art → one click and she moves
  • Turns to follow the cursor
  • Number keys change her expression
  • Wave · Peace sign · Heart

Mid-trip Stopover

Play with her

This part isn't a video. Move your cursor and her eyes follow it; click her, change her expression or ask her to say something. It all moves live in your browser, and this is just how it would look on your own website.

Watch Mari wave and make a few gestures. Open this page on a computer to play with Mari or Ichika in real time.

02 About

What is animated character art?

A still character illustration is one frozen picture; animated character art brings that same picture to life. Standing in place, the character breathes, blinks, turns to look at you, talks and changes expression. You'll often see it on character screens in mobile games.

Here's what ours can do:

01She never freezes, even standing still.Ichika

03 Uses

Where to use it

One piece of animated character art can travel to lots of places.

Character trailers and visual novel cutscenes

After School · 10 seconds · Japanese voice

For character introductions, promotional videos and cutscenes in visual novels. Expressions and gestures can follow the dialogue.

Stream intros and standby animations

Standby and opening screens for streams, or looping clips for social media. The loop version joins end to start, so it can play on and on.

Music videos

For covers and original songs: the character in a single illustration breathes, blinks and looks into the camera along with the song.

Interactive character art for the web

On an official site or event page, she turns toward each visitor's cursor or finger and reacts when clicked.

04 Making

How it's made

From one picture to her breathing on screen, it's a trip in four legs.

  1. Leg 01

    One finished illustration

We start from a character illustration that's already finished. Ichika's, our sample, was AI-generated.

  2. Leg 02

    Split into layers

Hair, eyes, mouth and clothes are separated. Parts you normally can't see, like an open mouth, hands and other expressions, are drawn in.

  3. Leg 03

    Add the motion

We set up breathing, head turns, expressions and gestures, plus how the hair and ribbons swing.

  4. Leg 04

    Video or web page

Rendered to video, or played live on a web page, reacting to the cursor and clicks.

These are Ichika's real layers: the 39 you normally see, plus parts that take turns appearing, like open mouths, expressions and gestures. 126 layers in all.

05 FAQ

QCan I use it on a stream standby screen?

AYes. An animated character video can be used as a stream intro or standby screen.

QAre the characters AI-generated?

AIchika Amano, our sample character, is AI-generated, both her illustration and her voice. Every piece says so.
